Texas Tech track and field athlete Sally Kipyego is featured in a story on ESPN.com. Kipyego, who has six national championships to her credit, will be participating in the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa this week.
Kipyego, perhaps the greatest athlete in Texas Tech history, hopes to represent her native country of Kenya in the Summer Olympic Games in China later this year.
Texas Tech track and field coach Wes Kittley on Kipyego's approach to running:
(From ESPN.com) "She's very aggressive and that's what makes her great," Tech track coach Wes Kittley said. "She'll sit in the pack, but she likes to take the lead when she has that opportunity. It's not her style to try to outkick her opponents. Sally is so tough mentally -- she's as good as anybody I've ever coached in that regard." |
