New TTU Campus Pics - Pre-Cotton Bowl Edition (12/30/2008)

I went up to campus this evening to get my last group of campus pictures for 2008. This group contains mostly pictures of Carol of Lights. The entire group of twenty or so pictures can be found in the TTU Campus Pics thread over at Raider Power.

The different this about this group is that I'm taking these with my new Nikon SLR camera that I received this Christmas from my wife and kids. I had no idea that I was getting this as a gift and it came as quite a surprise. So bear with me as I learn all the new settings on the new camera.

Please feel free to leave any comments or questions.

Some Minor Changes with the Blog

I have come to the conclusion after updating this blog for the last eight months that it has required more of my time that I had originally anticipated.

I gave some thought about completely shutting the thing down, but realized I started this mainly to provide updates and pictures of things going on at Tech. After giving it some thought, I'm going to continue with the blog, but keep it focused on that particular area. I felt I was being overwhelmed trying to keep up on all the athletics information along with the intended purpose of the blog.

Seth over at Double-T Nation provides great coverage of the Red Raiders and this is the blog to bookmark for anything related to TTU Athletics. I am going to go back to concentrating on taking pictures of the Tech campus, something I enjoy doing the most.

Totally Texas Tech may not be updated as often as it once was, but I hope to do more with the pictures when I do post.

Thanks for all the support and I hope everyone will continue to enjoy the pictures.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions, comments, or questions.

New TTU Campus Pictures - 12/5/2008

I posted a new group of pictures from the Texas Tech campus and surrounding area Friday over at Raider Power. This group includes shots of the Thompson/Gaston Hall demolition, the Fuller track and field renovation, the Marsha Sharp Freeway around the Tech campus, the Livermore Auditorium renovation, the east side renovation of Jones AT&T Stadium, and North Overton.

The Gaston Hall wing is almost completely gone as the demolition continues of Thompson and Gaston Halls to make room for the new Business Administration building. Currently, there is one small portion of Gaston still standing, while Thompson is in the process of being gutted.

The renovation of the Fuller track and field complex is almost compete. About the only thing that remains is the markings for the lanes and events. The sprint track along with the jumping events have been moved to the infield, which will provide a better view for fans.

I've included a number of shots of the Marsha Sharp Freeway that I took from the pedestrian bridge that is close to the northwest corner of Jones AT&T Stadium. The view from the bridge will look great once the freeway is completed and the renovations of the stadium get done.

Speaking of the stadium renovations, the construction fence around the east side parking lot was put in place along with a construction trailor this past week. However, there was still no equipment on site as of Friday afternoon.

The exterior of the Livermore Auditorium is almost complete as sidewalks and landscaping are now going in. The renovation is one phase of a couple of Engineering Department projects currently underway or planned.

It's amazing the process in North Overton. The new hotel and conference center was topped off a number of weeks ago and the brickwork on the building is close to being three floors from being completed. Meanwhile, The Centre II, Ruby Tequila's, the Cottages of Lubbock are all progressng nicely. They have also completed the dirt work for the The Shoppes, which will be located between Ruby Tequila's and the hotel and convention center.

On an added note, the annual Carol of Lights took place on Friday evening on the Tech campus. I'm planning on making a trip up this evening and take some pictures.

Feel free to leave comments or questions and I'll be happy to respond.

Go Tech!
