The newest group features shots of the new pedestrian bridge that is near the northwest corner of Jones AT&T Stadium and crosses the Marsha Sharp Freeway. Construction crews have nearly completed installing the new railing/fence on the bridge.
Unfortunately, someone has already tagged the ramps at the north end of the bridge with graffiti. This will probably be an on-going problem.
The other two pedestrian bridges are now open to foot and bike traffic. One is near the new 9th Street Bridge and the other is located where Indiana Avenue once crossed the old Brownfield Highway. Railings will also be installed on those bridges at some point.
There is only one wing that remains standing of the old Thompson/Gaston Hall complex and that won't be there for long. I would be surprised if anything was still standing in that location by the end of the month.
The new 9th Street Bridge that will connect the south and north parts of campus should be open by the end of this month or early February. The bridge will eliminate a lot of congestion that is currently plaguing campus.
There is also a large construction area around Memorial Circle right now as crews are putting in a new maintenance tunnel on the east side of the circle. The tunnel will run from the northeast corner of the Administration Building to Holden Hall. Traffic has been re-routed around Memorial Circle and can only be accessed through Boston Avenue.
I hope everyone enjoys the pictures and be sure and leave any comments or questions.
